Background and Philosophy

I came to Celebrant work after 15 years on my spiritual path, studying and working with ritual, Jungian psychology, archetypal mythology, energy healing practices, and meditation. I am also a writer and performance poet, with a deep love of the arts and creative expression. Bored with working in the jewelry insurance industry, I was hungry for work that involved my interests.

After much searching, I serendipitously discovered the training offered by the Celebrant Foundation and Institute, which beautifully brought together many of the spiritual and creative elements I have worked with over the years that have deep meaning for me. My studies included comparative religion, cross-cultural ritual, contemporary and creative ritual, mythology, symbolism, the craft of effective ceremony construction, and public speaking. I graduated from the Foundation with certificates in Ceremonies for Weddings and Couples, Families and Children, and Funerals and Healing.

I also became an Interfaith Minister, with the mission of supporting cultural diversity, and freedom of belief and expression through my Celebrant work. I founded and lead the Sisters of the Beloved Word Congregation – an inclusive spiritual group that encourages each member's personal path of spiritual inquiry and expression. I am also a registered Marriage Officiant with the NYC Clerk.
